Flightbeam NZAA - Auckland International HD

Post by Mir // Flightbeam » Mon Aug 29, 2016 2:22 pm

It's official, we're jumping over the Pacific and heading to New Zealand. This project, already in pre-production, will follow after KMSP.

One side-note: This airport is being handled by the "Mir-team". So this isn't the other "secret" airports that are currently in development by "x-team"

Absolutely, as seen in our previous products I go out of my way to make them compatible with Orbx products.

Fantastic Mir! Will bring back unforgettable memories of one the most beautiful places on the planet! I'll tell you one thing though Mir, you're costing me a lot of money! Nah, kidding, money well spent seeing the effort put into these master pieces. ;)

I tell you what Mir, I have a cheeky suggestion: how about you come visit us over here in Toulouse, have a nice holiday with the family, stay with us at our house, for example? Oh and just as a "secondary thing"....errr....how should put this subtly....do Blagnac for us?? You know, no biggie! Worth a try, eh?

Anyway, keep rolling these out, Mir. Always a pleasure, as you know already. ;)

When that project reaches a certain threshold 8-)

I've always loved France, did you know I lived there for 10 years? I was in school in Haute-Normandie... still very fluent in french. Absolutely lovely country and people. Perhaps some french airports in the future 8-)

Finally someone is doing this airport! And no better developer. I assume out of the box support for Orbx NZ?

I volunteer myself if you will need any testers I have years of flight sim experience and was once a paid game tester.

Really? Wow, no I didn't know that. Well, if you're ever down in this this part of the world in the future, don't hesitate to get in contact with me. I'll gladly open my front door for you.

I actually don't mind which airport you do Mir, it'll be worth the investment wherever you choose (as a few have already said on this forum). I'm always ready to invest in talent - I think this hobby of ours needs it.

Keep up the great work, mate. ;)

Fantastic news,

Have all your perfect airports, now another is in the making.

Does your ORBX compatibility also include the Auckland City scenery from this company.

There is no separate Auckland City scenery by ORBX, just the City as included in NZNI, and I suppose this is meant by compatibility.

There was a separate Auckland Supercity scenery a few years ago, but this was produced by Godzone/Robin Corn and is considered obsolete now.

Kind regards, Michael

Amir, first off, great choice. A day 1 buy for sure. I would like to comment on a comment you made on this announcement in Facebook. You said all major NA airport's are done. I would respectfully disagree. The world's busiest, Atlanta has really never been done to a Flightbeam, Fly Tampa, FSDT standard. ImagineSim has done 3 versions of ATL and they just cannot compete with your stuff. It's pretty pitiful actually, even their latest P3D version is not quite good. I would hope down the line after NZAA you would consider it.

Finally a big hub for NZ. I've done some regional flying there with ORBX' NZSI, but it never felt good enough with Queenstown being the biggest airport in good quality there. This is what was missing for a long time. And thus I wouldn't hesitate to get it on initial release.

Thank you for finally jumping over the oceans. This time hopefully more successful than at EDDF. 8-)

Well, if we're strictly speaking high quality NA airports, then there are plenty of available options. Definitely options for us down the road.

Mir,

Sorry was on a work trip and missed this announcement. NZAA is a fantastic choice! While I have never been there it is a place I want to visit. I am glad a new place was found and I hope some of the ones we discussed might make it on your list one day. I am still holding out for a really good Incheon. :D But NZ will be great and I look forward to making a long haul flight from KSLC to NZAA to do some testing! But I am really getting excited about KMSP which I know is coming soon.

While I am from FlightBeam so this is just a guess. In the past Mir will do an update in between the releases, last year after KSFO he did an update to KDEN. I would probably post in that specific forum what you are looking for in the way of an update. Then Mir or Sante can get you a better answer.

According to several sites in the know, ADX being one. KPDX is being developed by a big name but it is being kept quiet as to WHO? I would love FB to do one but usually it does not make economic sense for two FSX/P3D products to compete. It is why PacSim dropped doing one of the Beijing airports because there are three other devs racing to do it.

There is one big airport that doesn't have any good FSX renditions - KDAL Dallas Love Field, Southwest's spiritual home. I mean the Blueprint payware KDAL is even worse than some of the Freeware sceneries I've seen.

I know and agree. Still can't believe after all these years that FB, FSDT or FlyTampa has not done KDAL or KABQ.

I once had the honor to fly through Auckland Int'l on return to USA with Operation Deep Freeze (from Christchurch to Auckland to Honolulu to LAX) back in 1979-80 time frame. Pretty sure NZAA has changed significantly since I was there (likewise NZCH!). Maybe the team will consider NZCH for a future project as well?
Still hoping Canterbury region recovers from those devastating earthquakes - was so sad to see the damage the Cathedral in the Square took. Very fond memories of "Cheech". :)

Cheers!

Thanks for your interest!

As with all our projects, we don't publish any release dates, simply because they change all the time.
Once we've pushed our latest product out the door (KMSP), we'll be giving out updates on NZAA. Hope this helps 8-)

So after downloading the SFO update this week, I have to say the FlightBeam sceneries are unmatched, it is kind of incredible. With that being said, it leaves me wanting more.

I know that release dates are not a thing in this business and I get that. I am curious though about timeline. I got out of the sim world for awhile and I am just getting back in so I am a little out of the loop when it comes to how long a scenery like this would take (NZAA). What are our chances that NZAA will be released in 2017 or 2018? 50/50? or 70/30 respectively?
